A central theme of Lake Chelan Lutheran Church is to explore together what Jesus meant when he said 'love one another as I have loved you'.
Through the presence of Christ, we find the strength and courage to calmly approach decay and death. Through Christ, we move through our discomfort and fear.
Accordingly, we have developed several unique ministries that enrich both our congregation and reach the hurting in our community:
- We have a full-time "anchoress" - A person who leads an intensely prayer-oriented and Eucharist-focused life on behalf of our church, prays for the needs of the congregation and offers service to those in most need in our community
- Pastor Paul and members of our congregation have developed a "Liturgy for the Dying', a tool that combines a rich liturgy of singing litanies based on the Psalms that provides a structure for lay congregants to give spiritual comfort to those in their last days.
- A weekly Vigil for Peace
- A weekly lunch for the homeless in our community
- Providing special services to those who work in our local agricultural economy
- Groups who travel from Lake Chelan Lutheran Church to assist other rural congregations who have had to make the difficult decision to close their doors for financial or other reasons - comforting and being present with them, sharing in their grief and celebrating with them as they reflect on their church's role in their lives and communities.
